CNC Machines Setter / Operator / Programmer

FARRA are looking for variety of CNC Machinists to set, program and operate our 3, 4 and 5 axis machining centres, lathes, and horizontal borers on our day shift. Work on : A diverse range of CNC and manual lathes from small bar feed machines through to 9m horizontal machines and everything in between. Numerous jobbing VMC’s on small to moderate size work and an array of CNC horizontal borers through to a 8.75m travel in X and 3.5m in Y floor borer for larger work. Production milling with multi pallet Hyundai, OKK and DMG/ Mori HMC’s. We predominately use Mastercam for programming and Fanuc Controllers however we also use Siemens’s, Heidenhain, Fagor, Mitsubishi and Fidia controllers. Skills in mechanical and electrical assembly, fitting and field services, and precision engineering are also of interest.

Fabricators

FARRA has employment opportunities for Trades qualified Fabricators with 2+ years industry experience. We are looking for a variety of medium to heavy fabricators. Skilled with a speciality in stainless steel and aluminium fabrication and capability in mild steel fabrication and certified welding. Additional skills such as pressing, forming and rolling applications are a bonus. Our very large workshop is dedicated to complex heavy steel fabrications as well as lighter work, such as ducting and machinery guarding, chimney stacks, new water pipes and other mission critical work. Our fabrication workshop is also home to our 500-tonne press brake and rollers that can take up to 38mm thick plate.

Press Brake Operator

FARRA has employment opportunities for an experienced Brake Press Operator with 5+ years industry experience with press brake, turret and sheet metal processing experience. Attention to detail, ability to work to tolerances and a focus on quality are highly valued. Additional skills such as pressing, forming and rolling application would be an advantage. Much of our work is in aluminium and Stainless. Flat sheets will come off our Phoenix laser FL-4020 which cuts 6mm to 30mm thick metal for you to fold. Our specialist workshop is dedicated to light fabrication, delivering contract for manufacturing and production as well as jobbing. It’s incredibly rewarding work making parts for rocket ships, trains, high-end electronic and radio housing and even parts for gyro stabilised camera systems that go on aircraft for making blockbuster movies. We can promise you variety, volume and good Omada gear to work. Our press brakes fold up to 10mm thick. You won't get stuck here, there’s always room to grow and try new things. This is the perfect role if you thrive on variety, are tech savvy and still like the hands-on process of making things.

Fitter

FARRA has employment opportunities for a trade-qualified fitter machinist with a manufacturing industry or machining background, ideally with hydro or heavy industrial experience. As a Fitter you will be working on various projects (at times from design through machining and to installation) for engineering products and solutions for a broad range of specialised plant, equipment and pipework for our customers throughout NZ and overseas. Access maintenance equipment (BMUs and PMUs are a Farra speciality), we building storage tanks and silos and breathe new life into some of the biggest dams across the South Island. Welding Supervisor

Production Welder

FARRA has employment opportunities for Production Welders with 2+ years industry experience. We are interested in generalists and specialist welders and metal workers with a speciality in stainless steel and aluminium fabrication. Experience in MIG and TIG welding is the priority, qualifications and or welding tickets are of benefit but not essential. We will help certify you. Ability to read drawings and plans and take great care to deliver an accurate and quality outcome that meets our client's QA standards and expectations. Ability to work on tasks individually and as part of a large team on Contract for Manufacturing projects and jobbing to meet deadlines. Our specialist workshop is dedicated to light fabrication from laser cutters, punching, turret, and spot, MIG and TIG welding equipment. It’s incredibly rewarding work making parts for many projects including rocket ships, trains, high-end electronic and radio housing and even parts for gyro-stabilised camera systems that go on aircraft for making blockbuster movies.
